One important factor to success that is so easy to forget is the concept of serving others.
No matter what success looks like to you – promotion on the job, more money, starting a business, getting married – it all boils down to whether or not you are serving or meeting the needs of others.
When it comes to business or your profession, if you do not serve the client . . . if you do not serve your customers . . . if you are not contributing to the team . . . you will not elevate and you will not increase your income.
Life is about your service to others. And the more you give that service, the more you will receive. It’s the same as the concept of sowing and reaping. When you focus your time and energy into serving others (planting seeds), meeting them where they are, you will reap a harvest. The more seed you plant, the more you’ll harvest.
Think of the size of a seed with the size of the plant it produces . . . the plant that you harvest is always larger than the seed you planted.
If you want to elevate in your profession . . . if you want to expand and grow your business . . . if you want to increase your finances . . . serve, serve, serve.
Here are some questions you can ask yourself to determine ways you can serve more.
On the job:
- How can I fill a gap in my current team or project?
- How can I support another team member?
- How can I assist the management team?
In your own business:
- What is one problem that my customers are facing right now? How can I provide immediate, short term relief from this problem?
- What information, inspiration, or motivation can I provide easily and quickly?
- What other gifts or talents do I have (not business related) that I can share with others?
- How can I support someone else’e business?
Remember, focus on serving. Focus on planting seeds. And you will begin to reap a bountiful harvest.
